Ramirez debuts for Valdosta State, area players star defensively
TIFTON — Rashod Bateman kept his hot streak going with another very productive night for Minnesota at Fresno State.
Bateman caught seven passes for 105 yards and a touchdown in the Gopher’s 38-35 double overtime win. Through two weeks, he is 13th in yardage among all Football Bowl Subdivision teams and tops for sophomores. His current total is 237 yards.
Minnesota will host Georgia Southern Saturday at 3:30 p.m. on the Big 10 Network. While no Tift County players are listed on the Eagles’ roster this season, there are a pair of familiar names on the opposite sideline: J.D. King and Kierron Smith. Smith and King played for Fitzgerald. King ran for 46 yards for Georgia Southern last week in its win over Maine.
