Oklahoma man accused of raping minor a day after leaving prison

On July 24, Jared Wayne Jordan was released from prison. A day later, the Welling, Oklahoma man was accused of raping a 15-year-old girl twice.

Associate District Judge Mark Dobbins set Jordan’s bond at $400,000.

Jordan, 28, is being held at the Cherokee County Detention Center in Oklahoma. He has not been formally charged, but was held on potential counts of rape.

Cherokee County sheriff’s deputies said they were sent to a Tahlequah hospital at about 4 a.m. July 26 to take a report on an alleged rape.

The alleged victim claimed Jordan had sex with her two times on July 25, against her will, according to an arrest affidavit filed by Deputy Jesse Mitchell.

Jordan allegedly made a statement to another person that there is “something wrong with (his) thoughts,” and admitted to yet another person that what he “did was so stupid.” However, at other times, he reportedly claimed “it was not actual sex” and that the activity was consensual.

After deputies took the report from the alleged victim, they later tried to find Jordan at a Tahlequah motel where he had been staying. When no one answered the door, a manager provided deputies with a key to enter the room, but a deadbolt prevented them from getting in. They later used force to enter the room, but discovered an open window, and Jordan was gone.

Deputies were later told Jordan was ready to turn himself in, so they met with him and took him into custody.

Mitchell said he asked Jordan if he wanted to elaborate on the allegations, and Jordan said he would talk, “but not right now” because he was “too ashamed of what I did.”

Online records from the Oklahoma Department of Corrections show Jordan served time in state prison for various charges in Mayes County, including possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, possession with intent to distribute, and endeavoring to manufacture a controlled dangerous substance.

His discharge date is listed as Friday, July 24.
