Clay wins SCSD spelling bee

LIVE OAK — The Suwannee County School District held the 2019 District Spelling Bee on Friday at the District Office.

The following students represented their school for the competition:

Taylar Smith – Branford High School,

Courtney Williams – Suwannee Middle School,

Jordan Coombs – Suwannee Intermediate School,

Ethan McCall – Branford Elementary School,

Darrin Christian Baldwin – Melody Christian Academy,

Cassie Clay – Westwood Christian School.

Clay defeated Smith in the eighth round of the spelling bee.

Clay will represent the SCSD at the 75th annual First Coast Regional Spelling Championship on Tuesday, Feb. 19, at 8 p.m., at the Jacksonville University Swisher Theatre.

The Regional Spelling Championship will be televised on Channel 4 WJXT and live streamed on News4JAX.com.
