Eulene Moody Padgett

HOMERVILLE — Eulene Moody Padgett, 49, of Homerville, passed away Sunday afternoon at her residence following a brief illness. A lifelong resident of Clinch County, she was a homemaker. She was the daughter of the late Julias Lawrence Moody and Bernice Carver Moody Tipton. Survivors include one daughter, Nikki Padgett of Homerville; one son, Timmy Padgett of Valdosta; two sisters, Glenda Barnard, Fernandina Beach, Fla., Ann Kelley of Valdosta; one brother, Richard Moody, Fargo; and one grandson, Logan Padgett of Homerville. Memorial services for Mrs. Padgett will be held at 4 p.m. Saturday in the chapel of Roundtree Funeral Home, Homerville. Burial will be in Pine Forest Cemetery. — Roundtree Funeral Home



Julia Eva Smith Register

HOMERVILLE — Julia Eva Smith Register, 83, of Homerville, passed away Sunday night at the South Georgia Medical Center following a brief illness. A native and lifelong resident of Clinch County, she was a homemaker and a member of the Shiloh Southern Congregational Methodist Church. She was the daughter of the late Euel W. Smith and Roxie Ida Bennett Smith and widow of Walter M. Register. She was preceded in death by two brothers, W.R. Smith and Robert Lee Smith. Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Phyllis and Roy Crumbley of Homerville, Janell and Arnold James, Kingsland; two sons and daughters-in-law, Reid and Sara Register of Homerville, Gene and Louis Register of Waycross; one sister and brother-in-law, Almeade and Carl Walker, Tifton; one sister-in-law, Lillian Smith, Jacksonville, Fla.; one brother-in-law, Felton Register, Homerville; 10 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and several other relatives. Funeral services for Mrs. Register will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Shiloh Southern Congregational Methodist Church. Burial will be in Shiloh Church Cemetery. Mrs. Register will remain at the funeral home where the family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m. today with visitation after 5 p.m. Mrs. Register will be carried to the church one hour prior to the services. — Roundtree Funeral Home



Myrtice (Myrt) Scaggs

VALDOSTA — Myrtice (Myrt) Scaggs, 79, of Valdosta, died Sunday, Feb. 3, 2002, at her home. She was born on Feb. 7, 1922, in Alabama to the late Joyce and Lucy Higgins Yancey and had lived in Valdosta for the past 35 years. Mrs. Scaggs was a member of the Forrest Park Church of Christ. Survivors include one son, Ernest R. Scaggs of Valdosta; one daughter, Vicki S. Gunn of Valdosta; nine grandchildren, William S. Scaggs Jr. of Hinesville, Patricia A. Harden of Chandler, Ariz., Scott R. Scaggs of Dalton, Mark Tyndall of Dallas, Texas, Katie Scaggs, Cory Scaggs, Cody Scaggs, Philip A. Gunn and Caroline Gunn, all of Valdosta; three sisters, Jo Wilson of Oxford, Ala., Rose Kines of Hokes Bluff, Ala., Ann Smith of Rock Hill, S.C.; two brothers, Clifford Yancey of Attalla, Ala., and Carlton Yancey of Greensboro, N.C. She was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Beecher S. (Bee) Scaggs and one son, William S. Scaggs. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday at Forrest Park Church of Christ with Glenn Cochran and Ray Joyner officiating. Burial will follow in McLane Riverview Memorial Gardens. C.E. “Ed” Singletary

CHERRY LAKE, Fla. — C.E. “Ed” Singletary, 73, of Cherry Lake, died on Saturday, Feb. 2, 2002, at his home. He was born in Valdosta and had lived in Lake Worth, Fla., before moving to Cherry Lake in 1987. He was an electrician and a business manager for the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Union Local 323 in West Palm Beach, Fla. He was a U.S. Navy veteran, a member of the Madison Elks Lodge and the Florida Sheriff’s Boys Ranch. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Lois Singletary of Cherry Lake; daughter, Dorothy Burrous (Bill) of Valdosta; three sons, Ed Singletary (Bev)





and Dennis Singletary (Leslie), both of West Palm Beach, Fla., Ken Singletary (Tracey) of Ft. Pierce, Fla.; two brothers, Franklin Singletary (Joyce) of Orlando, Fla., and Leighton Singletary of Quitman; sister-in-law, Christine Singletary of Valdosta; cousin, Virginia Griffin of Atlanta; six grandchildren, Chris, Shanna, Jon, Scott, Derek, Kyle; four great-grandchildren, Veronica Kristian, Storm, Trent; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday in Beggs Funeral Home Madison Chapel in Madison, Fla. Margie Jean Wilkerson

NASHVILLE — Margie Jean Wilkerson, 39, of Nashville, died on Sunday, Feb. 3, 2002, at Berrien County Hospital. She was born on May 2, 1962, in Berrien County. She was a homemaker and member of Alapaha Baptist Church. She is survived by two daughters, Candice Michelle Wilkerson and Tiffany Renee Wilkerson, both of Nashville; two sons, Brian Keith Wilkerson, David Harper, both of Nashville; mother, Betty Jean Maine of Nashville; and a special friend, Tony Fender of Nashville. Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m. Wednesday in the chapel of Lovein Funeral Home with the Rev. John Hendley officiating. Burial will be in Fletcher Cemetery in Alapaha.
