George “Pie” Hickey

MIAMI, Fla. — Mr. George “Pie” Hickey, 62, of Miami was born on Oct. 2, 1939, to the late Mr. Joe Hickey, Sr. and Mrs. Mable Daniels Hickey. He departed this life on Wednesday, July 24, 2002, in Miami Fla. One sister and one brother preceded him in death. He leaves to lament his home going two sons, Allen Hickey of Belleville, Fla. and Hansel Hickey of Miami, Fla.; one daughter and son-in-law, Johnnie Frances (Elijah) Williams of Valdosta; three grandchildren, Charvin, Allen Jr. and Sharpard; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Mary Lee (Paul) Register and Maggie (Arthur) Timmons; two brothers and sisters-in-law, the Rev. Joe (Annie) Hickey, Jr. Pastor of Second Oak Grove Baptist Church and Charlie (Minnie) Hickey, all of Valdosta; one aunt Metrice Maxwell; also a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 3 at Scott and Roberts Chapel. The Rev. Edgar Roberts will officiate. — Scott And Roberts Mortuary





Kale “Bucky” Moore

VALDOSTA — Kayle “Bucky” Moore, 42, of Valdosta, died of a sudden illness, Wednesday, July 31, 2002. He was born on May 2, 1960, in Quitman, to Peggy Tomlinson Moore Herndon and the late Kayle Stuart Moore, Sr. Bucky was associated with United Parcel Service and was a member of Pauline Baptist Church where he served as a deacon and Sunday School teacher. He was active in short-term mission work to Nicaragua, and a choir member with a passionate heart for the music ministry. He is survived by his wife, Diane B. Moore; one daughter, Amanda Sue Moore; his mother and step-father, Peggy and Gerald Herndon, all of Valdosta; one sister and brother-in-law, Lisa and Bobby Larimore of Warner Robins; two brothers and one sister-in-law, Brad Moore of Alpharetta, Scott and Christy Moore of Perry; maternal grandmother, Willie Mae Tomlinson of Lake Park; paternal grandmother, Kathryn Passieu of Folkston; three step-sisters; and two brothers-in-law, Anne Estrada of Spokane, Wash., Jeanie and Shelton Smith of Valdosta, Lynn and Allen Baker of Coolidge; two step-brothers and sisters-in-law, Jerry and Angie Herndon of Moultrie, Mark and Jill Herndon of Pavo; and several nieces and nephews. Bucky was preceded in death by his father Kayle Stuart Moore, Sr. Funeral services will be held at Pauline Baptist Church at 11 a.m. Saturday. Aug. 3, 2002, with the Rev. Bill Dempsey, the Rev. Earl Justice, and the Rev. David Cook officiating. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. this evening at the Carson McLane Funeral Home. Sgt. Edward Alexander Moore

FT. LEE, Va. — Sgt. Edward Alexander Moore, 27, of Ft. Lee, Va. died on July 26, 2002, at his residence. He was born on May 3, 1975, in Valdosta to John Wilkes, Jr. and Edna Moore. He was educated in the Valdosta City School System; a Sergeant in the United States Army and was of the Baptist faith. He is preceded in death by his grandmother, Queen Ethel Doe; and two grandfathers, Elihue Moore, Jr. and John Wilkes, Sr. He is survived by his mother, Edna Moore of Valdosta; father, John Wilkes, Jr. (Dorothy) of Valdosta; one daughter, Dessare Moore of Valdosta; one son, Edward A. Moore, Jr. of Valdosta; three brothers and sister-in-law, Nevada Moore, Kunta “Ken” Wright, both of Valdosta and Zeron Wright (Alice) of Jacksonville, Fla.; one grandmother, Shirley Moore of Valdosta; one great-grandmother, Bessie Doe of Ray City; four aunts and their spouses, Vera Camon (James) of Ray City, Clara Gibbs, Sandra Russell (Handrick) and Jacqueline Wright, all of Valdosta; one great- aunt and her spouse, Louvenia Jackson (Fred) of Valdosta; four special friends, Latonya Nelson, Derick Thomas, Kevin Gilyard, Ralph Thomas, all of Valdosta; and a host of other relatives and friends. Robert Marcus Rozier

QUITMAN– Robert Marcus Rozier, 77, of Quitman died Wednesday, July 31, 2002, at Brooks County Hospital after a lengthy illness. Born in Brooks County, he was the son of Robert Carlisle and Claudia Simmons Rozier. He was a retired fireman for the City of Quitman; a member of the Baptist faith, and a veteran of the U.S. Army serving in World War II. He is survived by his wife Sue Rozier of Quitman; one daughter, Carol Norris of Valdosta; one son, William Rudolph Rozier of Stockbridge, Ga.; three grandchildren; one sister, Sara Lee Rozier Miller of Quitman; and one brother, Thomas L. Rozier of Quitman. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 3, 2002, in the Maxwell-Miller Chapel with the Rev. Scott Murphy officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery. Gilbert Lee Wakeley Sr.

FOLKSTON — Graveside service for Mr. Gilbert Lee Wakeley Sr., 76, of Folkston will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday in Mt. Carmel Memorial Cemetery in Folkston with the Rev. Thomas Roberts of Bethel CME Church, Valdosta officiating. He died Tuesday in South Georgia Medical Center after an illness. He was a native of Waynes County but lived in Folkston most of his life. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army. Survivors include five children, Charles Wakeley of Ocala, Mattie Wakeley of Del Ray Beach, Fla., Donaver Wakeley (Diane) of Syracuse, N.Y., Melvin Wakeley (Sheila) of Valdosta and Gale Fletcher (Charles) of Durham, N.C.; nine grandchildren; 14 great- grandchildren; and a host of other relatives. Friends will be received from 5-6:30 p.m. this evening at Fluker Funeral Home of Waycross. — Fluker funeral Home, Waycross





Sandara Kay Beck of Lakeland passed away Thursday afternoon, Aug. 1, 2002, at her residence following a short illness. Funeral arrangements are incomplete and will be announced by Music Funeral Services Inc. of Lakeland.



Rossie K. Green 68, of Valdosta passed this life on July 31, 2002, at her residence. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at the Union Holiness Church and Elder Willie Fields is Pastor and Elder Albert Bussey Jr. will officiate. Burial will follow in Sunset Hill cemetery. — Final rites are entrusted to Harrington Funeral Home.



Leo W. Lorenzo, 80, of Jacksonville, formerly of Valdosta, died on July 31, 2002. Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. today in Riverview Memorial Gardens, Valdosta. — Hardage-Giddens Funeral Home, Jacksonville, Fla.



Mary Jane Parker, 49, of Valdosta passed this life on Aug. 1, 2002, at the South Georgia Medical Center. Funeral services are incomplete and will be announced later by Harrington Funeral Home.





Linda Faye Thomas 46, of Lakeland, Ga. passed this life on July 28, 2002. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. at the Camon Temple Church and Pastor Nadine Camon will officiate and burial will follow in the Charles Knight Cemetery. Final rites are entrusted to Harrington Funeral Home.





Doyster M. Tyler, Sr., 66, of Valdosta died Thursday at home. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at Faith Baptist Church with burial to follow in Friendship Cemetery in Hahira. Mr. Tyler will be carried to his residence on Friday and remain there until service time. — Carson McLane Funeral Home
