Marvin Courson
Marvin Courson’ 82, of Valdosta passed away Tuesday morning, Nov. 1, 2005 in South Georgia Medical Center after a lengthy illness. He was born on Feb. 6, 1923 in Nashville, Ga. to the late Allen and Ressie Courson. He served in the United States Army. His wife, Mildred Faye Courson, brother, Calvin Courson and a sister, Vernell Detrich precedes him in death.
Survivors Include his daughters and sons-in-law, Teresa and Thomas Burroughs, Douglasville, Ga., Betty and Jerry Evans, Morven, Carla Courson, Quitman, Judy and David Sorrell, Madison, Fla., Ava and Patrick Krekel, Senoia, Ga.; sons and daughters-in-law, Marvin (Sonny) Courson, Jr., Bismark, S.D., Lamar and Tammy CoursonLake City, Fla., Jess Courson, Clyattville; 25 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Pauline Phelps, Valdosta, Doris Sheffield, Emily Watson, both of Celebration, Fla., Marie Wells, of Valdosta, and Letha Phelps, of Statenville.
Funeral Services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Nov. 4, 2005 in the Valdosta Chapel of Music Funeral Services with Rev. Terry Browning officiating. Burial will follow in Friendship Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. this evening, Nov. 3, 2005 at the funeral home.

Leila Mae Weaver Miller
Leila Mae Weaver Miller, 89, of Valdosta, died on Wednesday, Nov. 2, 2005, at Smith Northview Hospital after a brief illness. Born in Cook County on Sept. 8, 1916, she was the daughter of the late Richard Ancil and Rosie Virginia Johnson Noles. Mrs. Miller was a homemaker and a member of Forest Park Church of Christ.
Survivors are a daughter, Mary Kay Davis of Valdosta; a son and daughter-in law, Roger Dale and Cindy Weaver of Hahira; 12 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; three sisters, Bessie Johnson of Griffin, Mamie Ruth Nicholson of Lake Park, Lucille Browning of Lakeland; numerous nieces and nephews. Mrs. Miller was preceded in death by her husbands, Kenneth Weaver and James D. Miller, Sr.; two daughters, Dorothy Bailey and Jo Ann McCray; four sisters and three brothers.
Funeral services will be held on Friday at 2 p.m. in the chapel of the Carson McLane Funeral Home. Mr. Ray Joyner will officiate. Burial will be held in Pleasant Cemetery in Berrien County. Lucy McDonald Ward
Lucy McDonald Ward, 86, of Valdosta died on Tuesday, Nov. 1, 2005 at her residence. Born on April 18, 1919 in Willacoochee, Ga., she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Nancy Jane Jones McDonald and the widow of Donald Ward. She was a member of Friendship Baptist Church in Perry, Fla. and had attended the Azalea City Church of Christ for the past 12 years. Mrs. Ward was a good mother and granny.
Survivors are one daughter and son-in-law, Dorothy B. and Pardee Goodloe of Valdosta; one son and daughter-in-law, Billy and Phyllis Becton of Tel Aviv, Israel; five grandchildren, Wall Goodloe of Valdosta, Diane Johnson of Wylie, Texas; Chris Becton, Katherine Becton and Derrick Becton all of Orlando, Fla.; eight great-grandchildren; one sister-in-law, June Jones of Valdosta and sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Koot and Barney Johnson, Janie and Doyle Padgett and Susie Murphy all of Perry, Fla.
Graveside funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 4, 2005 at Woodlawn Cemetery in Perry, Fla. with Mr. Wally Goodloe officiating. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. this evening at the Carson McLane Funeral Home.
