Joseph Woody Clements
NASHVILLE — Joseph Woody Clements, 51, of Nashville died Monday, Dec. 20, 2004, at his residence. He was born on Sept. 14, 1953, in Cook County to Mary Shaw Clements Catoe and the late Hugh Clements. He was a boat rigger with Chaparral Boats and attended the Nashville United Methodist Church and was a member of the Mens Bible Class.
He is survived by his mother, Mary Shaw Catoe of Nashville; two sisters, Elaine Peace, Valdosta, Diane Sheehan, Katy, Texas; one brother, Tommy Clements of Valdosta.
Graveside funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, Dec. 23, 2004, in Beaver Dam Cemetery in Ray City with the Rev. Dwight Bishop officiating. Visitation will be held from 7-9 p.m. this evening at Lovein Funeral Home. — Lovein Funeral Home, Nashville
Mary Alice Adams Gibbs
HAHIRA — Mary Alice Adams Gibbs, 63, of Hahira died Tuesday, Dec. 21, 2004, at South Georgia Medical Center. She was born in Brooks County on Dec. 15, 1941, to the late David Martin and Mary Eunice Adams and was a lifelong resident of Hahira. Mrs. Gibbs attended the Hahira Church of God.
Survivors include her husband, Benny Gibbs of Hahira; two sons and daughters-in-law, Glenn and Dana Gibbs, Ken Gibbs all of Hahira; two daughters and sons-in-law, Sissy and Lonnie Browning and Sherree and Allen Browning all of Lakeland; 13 grandchildren, Amy Gibbs, Jacob Gibbs, Shawn and Kasie Gibbs, Justin Gibbs, Ryan Gibbs, Natasha Gibbs, Billy Hodges, Shane Hodges, David Browning, Sonya Browning, Brandon Harnage, Alex Harnage, Kyle Harnage; one great-granddaughter, Haley Browning; three sisters and two brothers-in-law, Ovida and Marvin Evans of Moultrie, Ella Mae Johnson, Dorothy and Bill Stone all of Hahira; three brothers and two sisters-in-law, Johnny Jones of Starke, Fla., James and Judy Adams of Lake City, Fla., Paul and Mary Adams of Wachulla, Fla. She was preceded in death by a son, Jerry Vinn Gibbs, two sisters, Ruth Williams and Belle Creel and a brother, Tom Jones.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Thursday, Dec. 23, 2004, at the Hahira Church of God with the Rev. Leonard Harnage officiating. Burial will follow in the Fellowship Cemetery in Cecil. Nathaniel Johns Jr.
VALDOSTA — Nathaniel Johns Jr., 46, of Valdosta was born on Jan. 18, 1958, to Nathaniel and Maurice Johns in Lowndes County. He attended the Lowndes County school system and Bishop College in Dallas, Texas. Nathaniel worked for Langdale Forest Company as a truck driver for 12 years.
Mr. Nathaniel Johns Jr. passed this life on Dec. 16, 2004, at South Georgia Medical Center. He was preceded in death by one sister, Clementine Williams; two brothers-in-law, Johnny Williams and Anthony Williams; one uncle, Benjamin Franklin Brown; and grandparents, BJ and Kathleen Johnson and Dea. James and Mearlon Johns Ward.
He leaves to cherish his memories a loving wife, Ardell W. Johns; devoted parents, Nathaniel and Maurice Johns; a devoted daughter, Rhonda Herring; two sons, Cleveland Herring Jr. (Nattelie) and Marcus Herring (Sharette); one sister, Celestine Thomas; father and mother-in-law, Dixie and Eurdice Williams; grandchildren, Jasmine Herring, Brianna Sherman, Marcus Thomas, and one special grandson, Brandon Herring; eight aunts, Princey Hall, Marilyn Ward, Elder Louvenia (Dr. Johnny) Straughter, Mattie (Timothy) Smith, Marjorie (Ernest) Dumas, Annie (Bill) Haynes and Elder Almarean (Cornelius) Whitfield, Thelma Branham; one uncle David (Ruth) Ward; seven sisters-in-law, Patricia (Jerome “Bo” special brother-in-law) Scurry, Debra Williams, Marilyn (Sweetie) Williams, Cheryl Williams, Tracey Jones (Greg), Barbara Jones, and Janice Williams brother-in-law, Dixie (Junebug) Williams (Vickie) and Janice Williams; two nieces, Stacey Gary and Tangee Thomas; one nephew, Boncel (Buffy) Thomas; three great-nieces, Diamond Thomas, Kishera Thomas and Jayla Watson; one great-nephew, Zackary McClain; one godson, Rafael (Tamara) Williams; best friend, Roosevelt Thomas; close friends, Valeria (Herring) Smith, Eddie and Ethel Dennard, Carrie Moses, Neville and Yvonne Thomas, Jerry Sanders, Raymond Roberts, Donnie, Langdale Forrest Truckers and staff, the Thomas Chapel Church family, and a special thanks to Pastor Edgar Roberts.

Allen Lavelle Lee
HOMERVILLE — Allen Lavelle Lee, 52, of Homerville, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 21, 2004, at the Clinch Memorial Hospital following an extended illness.
A native and lifelong resident of Clinch County, he worked as a Clinch County deputy from 1975-1988, from 1988-2001 he worked with the Georgia Department Of Probation, in 2001 he came back as an investigator for the Clinch County Sheriff’s Department. He was a member of the Pine Grove Congregational Methodist Church, Masonic Lodge and the American Deputies Association. He was the son of Lula Odelle Young Lee of Homerville and the late Johnnie W. Lee. One brother, Truman Lee, preceded him in death.
Survivors other than his mother are his wife, Martha Rowell Lee of Homerville; one daughter, Jennifer Smith of Willacoochee; one son and daughter-in-law, Bryan Allen and Brooke Lee of Axson; six grandchildren, Martha-Allayne and Kristen Smith and Kylie, Michael, Jayda and Kaine Lee; one sister and brother-in-law, Janice and Duncan Carmichael of Manor; one brother, Donald Lee of Homerville; a mother-in-law, Sarah Rowell of Manor; several nieces and nephews and a number of other relatives.
Services for Mr. Lee will be held at 3 p.m., Thursday, Dec. 23, 2004, at Freewill Baptist Church in Homerville.
Interment will be in the Camp Branch Providence Cemetery in Manor.
Mr. Lee will remain at the funeral home where the family will receive friends from 5-9 p.m. this evening. Mr. Lee will be carried to the church one hour prior to the services. — Roundtree Funeral Home of Homerville
Susie Frances Schofill
ADEL — Susie Frances Schofill, 78, of Adel died Dec. 19, 2004, at Memorial Convalescent Center of Adel after a long illness.
She was born on Feb. 19, 1926, in Cook County to the late John Thomas and Ellen Thelma Schofill Davis. She lived most of her life in Cook County. She was a homemaker and member of Gordon Avenue Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Chester Schofill Sr.
Mrs. Schofill is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law, Robert “Buddy” and Lisa Schofill Jr., Adel, Gary and Vonnie Schofill of Nashville and Richard Schofill of Hahira; two daughters and sons-in-law, Patricia and David Sanders, Adel, Carolyn and Carl Vredeveld of Lake City, Fla.; 15 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; one brother, Milton Schofill, Tallahassee, Fla.; one sister, Liz Bratzel, Pompano Beach, Fla.; one brother-in-law, Jimmy Schofill, Adel; and one sister-in-law, Ruth Penrod of Muncie, Ind.
Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at Brushy Creek Baptist Church with the Rev. Phillip Simmons and the Rev. Harris Whitman officiating. Burial will be held in Woodlawn City Cemetery. Pearlie P. Dupree, 93, of Hudson, Fla., and formerly of Lowndes County, died on Tuesday, Dec. 21, 2004, at Bayonet Point Health and Rehab in Hudson. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, Dec. 23, 2004, in the chapel of the Carson McLane Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Cherry Creek Cemetery.
