Dana Ryan Strickland

Dana Ryan Strickland, 28, of Live Oak, passed away, Friday, June 4, 2004, in Shands at Live Oak Hospital after a sudden illness. He lived in Live Oak all his life and attended Live Oak Church of God and Assembly of God Church in Live Oak.



Survivors include: his wife, Kim Strickland, Live Oak; his mother and step-father, Connie and Billy McCall, White Springs; his father and step-mother, Larry and Jamie Strickland, Live Oak; one daughter, Kristen Strickland, Live Oak; two sons, Jacob and Austin Strickland, both of Live Oak; two sisters, Tabitha McDaniel, White Springs and Rachael McCall, Live Oak; one step-sister, Lisa Martin, Live Oak; two brothers, Larry Strickland, Live Oak and Seth Strickland, White Springs; one step-brother, Arnie McCall, Birmingham, Ala.; and maternal grandmother, Mary Eunice Thomas, Live Oak.

Funeral services were conducted at 11 a.m., Tuesday, June 8, at Live Oak Church of God with the Rev. Fred Watson and Veronica Thomas officiating. Interment followed in Mt. Willing Cemetery, Live Oak. In lieu of flowers, donations to family appreciated.

Daniel “Danny” Powell Sr.



Daniel “Danny” Powell Sr., 45, of Live Oak, passed away Thursday, June 3, 2004, in Shands at Live Oak Hospital after a long illness. The Clearwater native worked to help many and bring joy to his family. He was a member of Melody Christian Center, Live Oak.



Survivors include: his daughter, Christina Powell, Live Oak; two sons, Daniel Powell Jr. and Fred Powell, both of Live Oak; two sisters, Sharon Diane Lovett, Live Oak and Sherry Ann Smith, Lake City; one brother, William Gary Powell, Live Oak; and eight grandchildren.



Funeral services were conducted at 1 p.m., Monday, June 7, at Melody Christian Center, Live Oak, with Pastor Frank Davis officiating. Interment followed in Pine Level Baptist Church Cemetery, Dowling Park.

Shirley A. Miller

Shirley A. Miller, 66, of Live Oak, passed away Wednesday, June 2, 2004, after a short illness. She moved to Live Oak from Melbourne three years ago, was a caretaker and of Baptist faith.



Survivors include: two daughters, Kelly Miller of Branford and Gloria Burchett of Jefferson, N.C.; five sisters, Marilyn Hall and Dolly Gullion, both of Rural Retreat, Va., Lois Martin, Rising Sun, Md., Joyce Anderson of Maryland and Wanda Strauss, Rochester, N.Y.; two brothers, Lester Parks of Maryland and Lacy Parks, Darlington, Md.; and four grandchildren.

Dennis Y. “D.J.” Jacobs



Dennis Y. “D.J.” Jacobs, 62, of Live Oak, passed away early Sunday night, June 6, 2004, in the North Florida Regional Medical Center in Gainesville, after a lengthy illness. He was born in Alexandria, Va. and lived in the Live Oak area for the past 20 years. Jacobs was an auto salesman, being one of the most highly ranked in the United States. He was employed with Walt’s Live Oak Ford-Mercury in Live Oak.



Survivors include: his wife Rita Jacobs, Live Oak; three sons and daughter-in-law, Dennis and Christy Jacobs, Lakeland, Ga., David Jacobs, Live Oak and Don Jacobs, Valdosta, Ga.; granddaughter, Chrissy Jacobs, Valdosta, Ga.; brother, Billy Jacobs, Branford; four sisters, June Leman, Oklahoma; Virginia Segars, Alabama, Doris Whidden, Arcadia and Mary See, Punta Gorda; and a number of nieces and nephews.



Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m., Wednesday, June 9, in Live Oak United Methodist Church, with burial following in the church cemetery.

Erma Lucille Croft

Erma Lucille Croft, 85, of Live Oak, passed away Monday, June 7, 2004, in Shands at Lake Shore Hospital, Lake City, after a brief illness. The Suwannee County native was a homemaker and a member of Brewer Lake Baptist Church, Day.



Survivors include: three daughters, Wanda Baker, Evelyn Aue and Patsy Withey, all of Live Oak; one son, George O’Steen, Tallahassee; 12 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren.



Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, June 10, at Mt. Olive Church of Christ, Live Oak, with the Rev. Sid Baker and Mr. Johnny Evans officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.



Visitation will be from 6 – 8 p.m., Wednesday evening, June 9, in the funeral home.
