Renard J. ‘Nard’ Savage
Renard J. “Nard” Savage, 26, of Lantana, Fla. passed away on Saturday, Aug. 19, 2006, at Delray Medical Center.
Homegoing services will be held at First Antioch Baptist Church, 517 North Oak Street, Valdosta on Aug. 26, 2006, at 11 a.m. Interment will follow in Sunset Hill Cemetery.
Renard is survived by his father and mother, James and Barbara Savage of Boynton Beach, Fla.; brother, Kenderix Savage, Miami, Fla. and brother, Travis Savage; sister, Kia Savage, Boynton, Beach, Fla.; nephews and niece, Kenderix Jr. Savage, Trayvus and Adrianna Johnson, all of Boynton Beach, Fla.; grandparents, Wallace and Carrie Thompson of Valdosta. Renard also leaves to cherish his loving memories many uncles, aunts, cousins, friends and The Brotherhood. He is preceded in death by grandparents Samuel and Mable Savage of Valdosta. — Godfrey Funeral Home.

Gene Porter
Gene Porter, 64, of Lake Park, died on Wednesday, Aug. 23, 2006, at Shands in Gainesville, Fla., after a short illness.
He was born on Feb. 24, 1942 and was a lifelong resident of Lake Park. He worked at TSG Industry and was a veteran of the United States Army. He attended Lake Park Church of Christ.
Survivors are two daughters and sons-in-law, Bobbie and Raymond Lee and Wanda and Beck Yeomans all of Valdosta; son and daughter-in-law, Jackie and Ronda Porter of Brooks County; grandchildren, Bobby Gene Lee, Chaz Lee, Danielle Harnage, Dustin Harnage, Matthew Porter all of Valdosta, Tony Porter of Brooks County, Deanna Dozier of Hahira; four great-grandchildren; his father, Claude Porter Sr. of Lake Park; sister and brother-in-law, Hazel and Andrew Pazgan of Pa.; brothers and sisters-in-law, Claude Jr. and Carolyn Porter of Jacksonville, Johnny and Katherine Porter, George and Iva Porter all of Lake Park, Harry and Connie Porter of Lakeland, Fla., and Raymond and Angie Porter of Lake Park. He was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia Ann McCann Porter, and his mother, Inell Kinsey Porter.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 26, 2006, in the chapel of the McLane Lakewood Funeral Home with Evangelist Evans McMullen and Mr. Eric Winslow officiating. Mary L. Cooper
Mary L. Cooper‚ 92, of Valdosta passed away Wednesday, Aug. 23, 2006, at her residence after a sudden illness.
She was born in Troy, Ala. on June 5, 1914 to the late Wyllie and Ether Sanders. She was a member of New Bethel Baptist Church, where she was very active in the Adult 1 Sunday School Class and the Eastern Star.
Survivors include her husband of 48 years, Elbert Cooper, Valdosta; son and daughter-in-law, Bill and Barbara Cooper, Ray City; daughter and son-in-law, Mary Ann and Ted Mauer, Mich.; four grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; 20 great-great grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 26, 2006, in New Bethel Baptist Church with the Rev. Tim Vanlandingham and Bro. David Stalvey officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Mrs. Cooper will lie in state one hour prior to services at the church. The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. this evening, Aug. 25, 2006, at the funeral home.

Wanda (Wannie) R. Thomas Harris
Mrs. Wanda (Wannie) R. Thomas Harris was the daughter of Mr. Ralph Thomas and the late Mrs. Myrtice Thomas. She was born on Nov. 4, 1960, in Valdosta. In the morning hours of Sunday, Aug. 20, 2006, our beloved Wannie’s journey on Earth ended as she made her final transition from life on earth to eternal life in heaven.
Wanda attended public school in the Valdosta City School System and was a graduate of Valdosta High School in 1979.
She met and fell in love with Jimmy Harris also of Valdosta and they became partners in marriage on June 20, 1980. Their union spanned 26 years and they were blessed with two beautiful children, Jimmy Jr. and Jasmine. As a military family, they traveled the world for 20 years making beautiful memories and friends along the way.
Wannie was employed by Department of Defense System, and received great reward from working with and nurturing the children in the system while providing an abundance of the same nurturing support to her children who are fine young people today.
In additional to her husband and children, Wannie leaves to cherish her precious memory her father Mr. Ralph Thomas of Valdosta; three sisters, Diane Lewis (Joe) and Janice Thomas of Valdosta, Alisa Chester (Winfred), Las Vegas, Nev.; one brother, Kevin Thomas, Valdosta; mother-in-law, Mrs. Cleotha Harris of Valdosta; four sisters-in-law,; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, cousins, relatives, and close personal friends.
Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 26, 2006 at St. Timothy AME Church and Pastor Nathaniel Brown will officiate. Burial will follow in Sunset Hill Cemetery. — Harrington Funeral Home.

Tracy Albert LewisJr.
Tracy Albert Lewis Jr., USAF MSgt. Ret., 73, of Valdosta since 1976, died on Wednesday, Aug. 23, 2006, at his residence.
Born on July 18, 1933, in Aberdeen, N.C., he was the son of the late Trace Albert, Sr. and Grace Alene Wilson Lewis. He retired after 39 years of combined service; 23 years of active service with the USAF having served in Vietnam and 15 years of civil service as the Deputy Chief of Contracting at Moody Air Force Base. He then worked at the Valdosta Teachers Credit Union for nine years. He was a member of Northside Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon, an usher, was on the finance committee, worked in the kitchen and was a choir member. He was a Scottish Rite Mason, loved golfing, Wildcat and Georgia Bulldog football, and especially loved his family and church.
Survivors are his wife of 50 years, Linda Lewis of Valdosta; daughter and son-in-law, Deborah and John Spotts of Loganville; twin sons and their wives, Donnie and Donna Lewis of Tallahassee, Fla., and Ronnie and Kim Lewis of Sharpsburg; grandchildren, Johnny Spotts, Dustin Lewis, Dakota Lewis, Jackson Lewis and Chandler Lewis; a brother, Charles Lewis of N.C.; sisters, Jo Britt, Dot Wilson, Shirley Garner, Alice Winfree all of N.C.; and several nieces and nephews in North Carolina and Tennessee.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 26, 2006, in the chapel of the Carson McLane Funeral Home with the Rev. Bob Willis and Dr. Rick Stevens officiating. Burial will follow in McLane Riverview Memorial Gardens with full military honors. The family will receive friends this evening from 7-9 p.m. at the funeral home.
