Mauree Folsom Upton
Mauree Folsom Upton, 89, of Barney passed away Monday, Feb. 12, 2007, at the Presbyterian Home after a lengthy illness.
Born in Cook County, she was the daughter of Lee and Ida Harris Folsom. She was a direct descendant of Lawrence Folsom who was one of the founders of Campground Methodist Church. She was a homemaker and member of Morven United Methodist Church.
She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Barbara Moody (Kevin) Sumner of Barney; eight grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, Feb. 15, 2007, at the Morven United Methodist Church with the Rev. Jim Hauseal and the Rev. Larry Hauser officiating. Burial will follow in Campground Cemetery.

Jerry Lyndon (Jay) DeMott Jr.
Jerry Lyndon (Jay) DeMott Jr., 40, of Blakely, died on Sunday, Feb. 11, 2007, as a result of injuries sustained in an auto accident. Jay was born Nov. 1, 1966, in Valdosta and grew up here having graduated from Valdosta High School and Valdosta State University. At VSU, he was a member of the Kappa Alpha Order and following graduation worked for Roadway Package Systems for 12 years and lived for several of those years in Dothan, Ala. Five years ago, he began work with Dixie Shooters as a manager and moved to Blakely. He was a member of Holy Trinity Episcopal Church in Blakely, served on the vestry there as a Junior Warden. Jay loved life, his family, his friends and his farm. He was an avid outdoorsman.
Survivors include his wife, Monica Ullmann DeMott of Blakely; a son, Dylan DeMott of Atlanta; his father and mother, Jerry and Judy DeMott of Valdosta, a brother and sister-in-law, Mark and Amy DeMott of Orlando, Fla.; a sister and brother-in-law, Nikki and Bobby Yarbrough of Valdosta; parents-in-law, Dr. Terry and Mona Ullmann of Panama City. Also surviving are nieces, Taylor and Sara DeMott, both of Orlando, and Maddie Yarbrough of Valdosta; and his grandmother-in-law, Betty Jo Gallion of Dothan, Ala. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Roscoe and Cobbie DeMott, Cherice and Richard Craig and James Butler.
Funeral services for Jay will be held at 4 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 15, 2007, at Christ Episcopal Church in Valdosta. The Rev. Peter Ingeman will officiate and the Rev. Bill Harris will deliver the homily. The family will receive friends at the church from 2 p.m. until service time on Thursday. Olivia B. Register Clifton
Olivia B. Register Clifton, 83, passed away Sunday, Feb. 11, 2007, at her residence following an extended illness.
Mrs. Clifton was born June 13, 1923, in Jacksonville, Fla., to the late Eli Register and Gussie Boatright Register McLamb. She was a member of the DuPont Baptist Church. Mrs. Clifton was preceded by one son, James H. Clifton.
Survivors are three daughters and son-in-law, Peggy Rogers, Gwen Smith, Phyllis and Malcolm Smith, all of Homerville; three sons, Larry Clifton and Wayne Clifton, both of Homerville, Rodger Clifton of Statenville; two sisters, Clarice Seymour of Jacksonville, Fla., Margaret Stalvey of Homerville; 16 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and several other relatives.
Services for Mrs. Clifton will be held today, Feb. 14, 2007, at 2 p.m. at the Homerville Congregational Methodist Church. Internment will be in the North Cemetery near DuPont.

Jesse Martin ‘J.M.’ Strickland
Jesse Martin “J.M.” Strickland, 89, passed away Monday, Feb. 12, 2007, at Clinch Memorial Hospital following an extended illness.
Mr. Strickland was born Jan. 2, 1918, in Ware County to the late Jesse Strickland and Hattie Henderson Strickland. He was a member of the New Vision Church of God and was the owner of Homerville Supply for 37 years. Mr. Strickland was preceded by one grandson, Michael Strickland.
Survivors are his wife of 67 years, Agnes Bennett Strickland of Homerville; one daughter and son-in-law, Evelyn and Jimmy Wilson of Homerville; two sons and daughters-in-law, John W. “Wink” and Nancy Strickland, Mike and Debbie Strickland, all of Homerville; one sister and brother-in-law, Ann and Orlon Carr of Miami, Fla.; one brother and sister-in-law, Charles and Blanche Strickland of Kingsland; 11 grandchildren, Tammy and Jerome Crosby, Timmy and Dell Wilson, Amy and Craig Hunt, DeAnna Strickland, John Strickland, Brice Denmark, Brett Denmark, Taylor Denmark; five great-grandchildren, Jay Crosby, Tiffany Crosby, Jim Wilson, John Michael Wilson and Sam Hunt; and several other relatives.

Agnes C. Robinson, 86, died Monday, Feb. 12, 2007, in Madison, Fla.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, Feb. 15, 2007, at 11 a.m. at Beggs Funeral Home Madison Chapel with burial to follow in Oak Ridge Cemetery, Madison. She was born in Leslie, Ga., and moved to Madison in 1968, from Albany. She was a homemaker and a receptionist and bookkeeper for Becky’s Dance Steps Studio for 20 years. She was a member of Fellowship Baptist Church in Madison.
She is survived by one son, Robby Robinson and wife (Barbara) of Madison; one daughter, Becky Robinson Oladell and husband (Tony) of Madison; one sister, Flora McMillan and husband (Harold) of Albany; five grandchildren, Brent Robinson, Brad Robinson, Heather Robinson, Rick Robinson, Stacy Mock and husband (Freddie); two great-grandchildren, Dylan Mock and Dawson Mock. Alexander Joseph (A.J.) Haineault, infant son of Steven and Melinda Haineault, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 13, 2007, at Phoebe-Putney Hospital in Albany.
He is survived by his parents, Steven and Melinda Haineault of Quitman; one brother, Christopher Lee Haineault of Quitman; paternal grandparents, Steve and Karen Haineault of Quitman; paternal great-grandfather, W.R. Hendrick of Stockbridge; paternal grandparents, Jimmy and Jeanne Kearse of Quitman; paternal great-grandmother, Ann Lesh of Quitman; maternal grandfather, Joseph O.
