Live Oak Police need the public’s help in searching for a person who tried to break into a local convenience store early Wednesday.
Video footage from the JK Food Mart at 969 Ohio Avenue, shows a person attempting to gain entry to the store around 5:41 a.m., according to LOPD Det. Sgt. Ron Shaw.
“It shows somebody tried throwing a chuck of concrete at a window,” said Shaw.
That window was on the north side of the building, behind the cigaratte display, said Shaw.
Instead of crashing through, the concrete bounced back, almost “hitting the person’s toes,” Shaw said.
The suspect then threw the concrete at the front door, at which point the security alarm sounded, sending the suspect fleeing south, said Shaw.
“And they left their chunk of concrete,” he noted.
Shaw said due to the suspect’s clothing — light colored hoodie and white gloves — and the angle of the camera, police are unable to distinguish gender or race.
Shaw said there are no suspects at this time. Anyone with relevant information is asked to contact the LOPD at 386-362-7463.
