Mrs. Leola Anderson Padilla, 82 of Valdosta went home to be with the Lord on May 25, 2011 while hospitalized at South Georgia Medical Center. Mrs. Padilla was born Jan. 19, 1929 to the late Mr. and Mrs. Sherman and Fannie Bell Morrella in Lowndes County, Ga. She attended Dasher High School; she always enjoyed preparing dinners when  her children came home to visit and was a member of Evergreen Baptist Church where she served faithful until her health failed. She was recently honored as the “Sweetheart Queen” while a resident at the Heritage House Nursing Home.

Mrs. Padilla was married to the late Joseph Padilla. Survivors are one devoted daughter, Pearl Wright (William H.) of Valdosta; one daughter preceded her in death the late Helen Wilson; three sons, Alfred Anderson, Jr. (Ann) of Morven, Ga., Judge James V. Pierce (Jan) of Dunedin, Fla. and Joseph Padilla (Anselma) Lansing, Mich.; devoted sister, Elizabeth Pierce of Valdosta; brother, Robert Morrell (Ellen) of Panama City, Fla.; daughters-in-law, Valencia Pierce of Clearwater, Fla. and Jennifer Padilla of Stone Mountain, Ga.; son-in-law, Richard Wilson of Valdosta; sisters-in-law, that will always be family, Willa Mae Anderson, Rosa Lee Anderson, Alma Anderson, all of Valdosta and Blanche Anderson of  Miami, Fla.; brother-in-law, T.C. Anderson of Valdosta; nine grandchildren, Andy, Joseph Jessica, Jonathan, Justin, Nicholus, Veronica, James and Salena; 10 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other friends that she treasured and loved dearly.

Funeral service will bee held  Saturday, June 4, 2011 at 3 p.m. at Evergreen Baptist Church. The Rev. Alvin Carter, pastor  will officiate. Burial will follow in Concord Baptist Church Cemetery. — Scott And Roberts Mortuary
