Harlow Broughton Land
Dec. 2, 2012
 
Harlow Broughton Land, 35, of Lake City, Fla. passed away on Sunday, Dec. 2, 2012. A native of Mayo, Fla., he graduated from Darlington School in Rome, GA and the University of Mississippi. He was employed by the Suwannee River Water Management District in Live Oak; Fla. Broughton loved life and his family. He was a coach for the Lake City Pop Warner football team and also active for ten (10) years with the Hannah’s Buddies Charity. Broughton is survived by his beloved life companion & partner: Annie Winnett; parents: Judge Harlow “Hank” & Nelle Land of Mayo, Fla.; one son: Garrison Broughton Land and daughter, Keating Blair Land of Lake City, Fla.; one sister: Laura Keating Land DaConceicao of St. Augustine, Fla. and countless friends all over Florida and the country. He was the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. Harlow Land of Mayo, Fla. and the late Senator W. Broughton Johnston and Louise Johnston of Princeton, West Virginia.
There will be a celebration of Broughton Land and his life on Saturday, Dec. 15 at 2 p.m. at the home of Judge and Mrs. Land in Mayo, Fla. Please no formal attire, Broughton would want everyone to be comfortable. 
There will be a private ceremony the following day, Sunday. We ask that you please respect the family’s wishes for this be a private event. 
The family requests that in lieu of flowers that donations be made to Hannah’s Buddies Charity that supports research and care of victims of Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA) at Hannah’s Buddies c/o The Elliots, 719 S Orleans Ave., Tampa, Fla. 33606 or Paddle Florida, Inc., P. O. Box 5953, Gainesville, Fla. 32627. 
The Land and Winnett families would like to thank everyone for the wonderful support. Broughton had a dynamic soul who touched so many and it is comforting to us to talk with those he cherished so dearly.

Lillian B. Waters, age 65 of McAlpin, Fla. passed away on Saturday, Nov. 24, 2012 at Suwannee Health Care of Live Oak, Fla. She was born in Adel, Ga. She was a homemaker, Lillian will be missed by all who knew her.
Survivors: two daughters: Sonia Bethune Lucas (Chris) of McAlpine, Fla, Reney Bethune Strickland (Stuart) High Springs, Fla., one stepdaughter Pat Ortiz (Martin) of Ft Myers, Fla., one stepson Herbert Jr. Bethune of Greenville, SC. 
Six sisters: Laura Cooper (Don) of McAlpin, Fla., Johnnie Mae Smith Lindrose, Mary Gaffeny of Live Oak, Fla. Nellie McNabb of Madison, Fla., Annie Daniels of Lake City, Fla., one brother: Lonnie Lyle of Weeki Wackie, Fla.
She was predeceased by her companion, Herbert Bethune Sr of McAplin Fla. and her sister Minnie Barnes of Ft Myers, Fla.
She has 11 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.
Memorial service was held Wednesday, Nov. 28, 2012 with Pastor Veronica Thomas officiating.

James Thomas “Jimmy” Webb, 70, O’Brien, Fla.
 passed away on Wednesday, Dec. 5, 2012 after a long illness. The Broward County, Fl native was a Vietnam Veteran while serving in the U.S. Marines and was of Baptist faith. He also was a hay farmer and a welder. Mr. Webb is survived by his wife: Yolanda G. Webb, O’Brien, Fla.; one daughter: Cyndi (Terry) Morrison, McAlpin, Fla.; step-daughter: Heather Duncan, O’Brien, Fla.; one son: Tim (Wendy) Webb, McAlpin, Fla.; four grandchildren: Daniel, Jessica, Matt, Michael; six great-grandchildren: Kamryn, Karlyn, Taycee, Kaidyn, Kayzlin, and Isaiah. A memorial service was held at 6: p.m. Friday, Dec. 7th at Daniels Memorial Chapel with Dr. Jimmy Deas officiating.

Ralph T. Miller

Ralph T. Miller, age 84 of Live Oak, Fla. passed away Monday,  Dec. 10, 2012 at Suwannee Health Care in, Live Oak, Fla. The native of Portersville, PA moved to Kissimmee, Fla. and attended Osceola High School graduating in 1945.  He attended Vallejo Junior College in California where he studied Agriculture.  He moved to Live Oak in 2003 from St.Cloud, Fla.  He was a U.S. Army Veteran having served during WWII and the Korean War.  He was awarded the Bronze Star for Valor, the Korean Service Medal with 3 Bronze Stars and the Combat Infantryman Badge.  He was a member and past master of Orange Blossom Lodge #80 F&AM, Kissimmee, Fla., a 33rd Degree Scottish Rite Mason, Past Grand Master of Free and Accepted Masons of Florida having served in 1986. Ralph was a member of numerous Masonic organizations in the state of Florida including the Bahia Shrine Temple, Orlando, Fla.   He was a Special Registered Deputy Sheriff for several counties in the State of Florida and a Past President of Osceola County Farm Bureau.
He is survived by his wife, Vivian Stewart Miller, Live Oak, Fla.; one son, Chester N. Miller, Franklin, NC; one daughter, Betty Kaye Dudley, two sisters, Betty Ronning, Vallejo, CA and Frances Defoe, Sacramento, CA; five grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held Wednesday evening from 5 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 13, 2012 in the Clayland Baptist Church with Pastor Bill Lawhon officiating.  Masonic services will be conducted by the Grand Lodge of the State of Florida.
In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Masonic Home, 3201 1st St., St. Pete, Fla. 33704.

Raymond LeRoy Swinson, age 88, passed Monday, Dec. 10, 2012 at his home.
He was born in Olney, Ill.  and lived in Lafayette County. He worked for Buckeye for over 30 years as a machinist and was in the U S. Army Air Corps.
Survivors include 2 Sons; Leroy Swinson and  Enoch Swinson (Gail)
1 Daughter; Rebecca Corbin (Darryl), 3 Sisters; Juanita Ezell, Lorene Long, and Emily Swinson. 5 grandchildren, 6 Great Grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife Dorothy Morgan Swinson, one son; Ronald Swinson (Shirley) 
Funeral service is 2 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 13, 2012, at Beggs Funeral Home Madison Chapel, with burial following at Bethel Creek Cemetery in Lafayette County. Visitation is Wednesday from 5-7 p.m. at the chapel.

John W. Wheeler, Jr., 74, O’Brien, Fla. passed away on
 Thursday, Dec. 6, 2012. The Anniston, AL native moved to O’Brien in 1995 from Bradenton, Fla. He was a Veteran of Peace Time while serving in Marines and retired from Tropicana Products, Inc. in Bradenton after 33 years. Mr. Wheeler is survived by his wife of 39 years: Linda L. Wheeler, O’Brien, Fla.; one daughter: Angela Dawn Tambone, Sarasota, Fla.; four sons: John William Wheeler, III, Lebanon, IN, Dennis Lynn Wheeler, Cary, NC, Whittney Fred Wheeler, Bradenton, Fla., Jason Lee Wheeler, O’Brien, Fla.; one sister: Barbara Martin, Tuscaloosa, AL and six grandchildren. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 12 at Daniels Memorial Chapel in Branford with Mr. Bob Fletcher officiating. Interment will follow in Elim Baptist Church Cemetery.

David Ira Whatley Jr., 85, of Live Oak passed away on Wednesday Dec. 5, 2012. Born in Suwannee County and raised his family here. He worked as foreman on the LOP&G and Southern Railroad for 34 years and loved his job. He was of Church of God faith, and loved to read the bible and spread Gods word. He was a true inspiration to everyone.
Mr. Whatley is survived by his wife of 64 years Louise Whatley, Live Oak. Two daughters, Martha Lucklum and Linda Hunter, both of Live Oak; two sons, Donald Whatley, Snead, Fla and Roy Whatley, Live Oak; two sisters, Betty Love and Sharon Bonnell (Roger) of Live Oak.
Grandchildren and great grandchildren Kim, Christy, Jason, Wendy, Tim, Grace, Sean, Adam, Michael, Marlene, Jaylene, Shawn, Roy, Marc, Daphney, Nicole, Travis, Erin, Christen, Natasha, Wade, Jordan, Zackery, Kyle, Conner, Adison and Toni.
Close friends Paul and Judy Griffith, Larry and Nancy Stewart and Jeff Townsend. Many nieces and nephews and dear friends.
He was preceded in death by his son, James Robert (Buddy) Whatley, Father, David Whatley Sr., Mother Alice Whatley, two brothers Wilber Whatley and Gerald Whatley.
He will be missed and loved forever
