Paul Chris Blane

Paul Chris Blane, Sr., 88, of Valdosta, Ga., passed away peacefully at his home and surrounded by family, on Good Friday, April 3, 2015.

He was born on Nov. 2, 1926, in Clearwater, Fla., the son of Greek immigrant parents, Chris A. Blane and Mary Fekas Blane.  The family settled in South Georgia in the mid 1930’s and owned the Plaza Restaurant in Thomasville, Ga. in the 1940’s and later the former Green Turtle Restaurant in Valdosta, Ga. Mr. Blane served in the United States Navy and was a World War II veteran and later attended the University of Georgia.  He had a great passion for the arts and enjoyed a lifelong career in the entertainment industry.  He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, William C. Blane of Valdosta, Ga.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Louise Mercer Blane; five children, Danise Watson (Doug Thompson) of Valdosta; Maria Mallory, and husband, Bill of Fleming Island, Fla.; Melissa Blane (Gary Huneycutt) of Williamsburg, Va.; Paul Blane, Jr. (Kim Drou) of Ocean Springs, Miss.; and Mark Blane of Valdosta; three granddaughters, Leah Boley, Elena Anthony, and husband Cody; Christina Mallory all of Fleming Island,  Fla.; four great- grandchildren: Brook and  Brynlee Boley and Aiden and  Garrett Anthony;  his sister, Elaine Vafiadis, and husband, Nick of Laguna Niguel, Calif.; his brother, Milton C. Blane, and wife, Tatiana of Cumming, Ga.; many cousins, nieces and nephews. Mr. Blane was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend who will be greatly missed.

As per Mr. Blane’s wishes he will be cremated. A private memorial service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please
