The report states that on Sunday, June 28, at 1:30 a.m., an HCSO deputy was dispatched to 4425 SW 76th Terrace in Jasper in reference to a man with a gun. A female victim stated that Mathew Thomas Phillips, 24, Jasper, accused her of taking his money and pointed a gun in her face, pulling the trigger four times. Four witnesses gave statements corroborating the victim’s story.
Phillips was located at a residence at 4428 SW 76th Terrace and admitted to taking the semi-automatic gun down to the other residence. He was arrested and booked into the Hamilton County Jail, charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon without intent to kill and is being held on no bond, HCSO said.
Officials are saying at this point they do not know if the gun was loaded or if it just misfired.
