The sheriff’s office worked with the Valdosta Police Department Narcotics Division, the Valdosta office of the Department of Community Supervision, the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Southwest Georgia Gang Task Force and the Georgia Department of Corrections Unit to target “persons previously identified as violent offenders and/or known drug offenders,” Jones said.

“Multiple weapons and drugs were recovered during the operation, as well as persons arrested,” Jones said. “Many of these cases are ongoing, and detectives are working to identify the source of the firearms and drugs.”

Jones said as additional charges and arrests are likely as the investigations continue.

“This kind of teamwork between agencies is great,” said Sheriff Chris Prine. “Working with our law enforcement partners and our community only makes everyone safer. This is great work.”
