Mayo man dead after stabbing

MAYO, Fla. — The Lafayette County Sheriff’s Office is currently investigating the death of a Mayo man Monday.
According to the report, deputies received a call regarding a stabbing at a residence on Main Street.

The report states deputies found Fermin Bueno, a 61-year-old Hispanic male that lived at the residence, with an apparent single stab wound to the chest.
The Lafayette County EMS treated Bueno and transported him to Shands of Live Oak, where he was later pronounced deceased, the report states.
According to the report, deputies were able to gather information on the suspect including a vehicle description and tag number.
The report states, following a pursuit, deputies made a traffic stop on a vehicle matching the description and tag number.
The driver Pedro Martinez, 31, of Mayo, was placed under arrest for fleeing and eluding and no valid driver’s license.
The report states the deputies recovered the weapon.

Sheriff Brian Lamb said Martinez is a suspect in the death and homicide charges are pending further investigation.
