Ashley Street Station offers free dinner

VALDOSTA — Ashley Street Station will be offering a free dinner from 5-9 p.m. Thursday during the 6th Annual Thanksgiving Show, that will feature local band Lazy Lightening.

Blues singer Jen Anders will be opening for the father and son duo promptly at 10 p.m.

While the dinner is free, show tickets for the performance are $5 and can be purchased at the door.

Owner Bryan Gay said that even though Ashley Street is a bar, people of all ages are welcomed for the dinner and that children can be accommodated away from the bar area.

Patrons must be 18-years-old or older to attend the musical performance.

Gay mentioned that last year, about 40-50 people benefitted from the free dinner while an estimated 100-150 people were in the crowd for the show.

Any food that is leftover from the dinner goes to staff at fire departments, as well as police officers, according to Gay.

He believes that supporting one’s own local area is important, and that small businesses wouldn’t survive without those in the community.

“I think we do as much as we possibly can,” he said. “There’s a lot of people that raise money for bigger events, but I’d like to do what I can for our community.”
