Siege: Trump Under Fire

Michael Wolff created quite a sensation last year with the release of “Fire and Fury: Inside the Trump White House.”

Wolff painted a picture of the White House as madhouse. Based on his time working as a reporter inside of the White House, Wolff wrote one of the first books detailing the dysfunction inside the Trump Administration.

Though critics claimed inaccuracies in the book, others said it captured essential truths into the chaos.

“Siege: Trump Under Fire” is Wolff’s follow-up to “Fire and Fury.” It chronicles the actions and personalities coming and going, going, going during the past couple years in the Trump presidency.

As the title suggests, the book focuses on the Mueller investigation but it also visits with Trump’s meeting with North Korean leader Kim Jong-un, the government shutdown, the loss of the House of Representatives, etc.

And chaos and more chaos. Wolff includes commentary such as Trump being so enraged that his hair comes undone and the president was left bald-headed and yelling.

In many ways, Wolff’s books read more like a gossipy Kitty Kelley or Albert Goldman rather than Bob Woodward. But given the reported state of the White House, even Woodward’s book read like a tell-all.

Given the intense media scrutiny and a near glut of Trump-related books, “Siege” doesn’t match the revelation status of “Fire and Fury.” But it’s still a readable, though frightening, book.
