Woman killed in Valdosta accident

VALDOSTA — A Sunday wreck killed a young woman in Valdosta.
Around 1:15 a.m., police, firefighters and EMTs headed to the intersection of Barack Obama Boulevard and Eastwind Road on a report of a traffic accident, a Valdosta Police Department statement said.
They found several people with injuries along with a pickup truck and a passenger vehicle with severe damage.
Two people in a sedan were taken to South Georgia Medical Center; one of them, a 24-year-old woman, died there, the statement said. Her name has not yet been released by authorities.
“Our condolences go to the family and friends of this young lady who tragically lost her life,” said Police Chief Leslie Manahan.
