Gas prices in South Georgia creep upward

VALDOSTA — Gasoline prices in South Georgia crept upward again last week, in line with state and national trends.

The average price for a gallon of regular gasoline Tuesday in Valdosta was $2.88, up two cents over the previous seven days, according to the AAA Daily Fuel Gauge Report.

The lowest fuel price reported in Valdosta Tuesday was $2.69 per gallon at a store on Norman Drive, according to the price tracking website gasbuddy.com.

— In Tifton, the lowest gas price reported Tuesday was $2.72 per gallon at a store on US-82.

— In Thomasville, the lowest gas price reported Tuesday was $2.73 per gallon at a store on Hwy. 419 North.

— In Moultrie, the lowest fuel price reported Tuesday was $2.70 per gallon at two stores, one on East Broad Avenue and the other on Mill Street.

Valdosta had the sixth-highest average gasoline price Tuesday of the 15 Georgia markets monitored by the auto club: lower than Savannah, Macon, Hinesville, Atlanta and Athens but higher than Warner Robins, Rome, Gainesville, Dalton, Columbus, Catoosa, Brunswick, Augusta and Albany.

Nationally, the average price of gasoline Tuesday was $3.07 per gallon, up three cents in a week, while Georgia’s average of $2.91 per gallon was unchanged in the same period, according to AAA.
