Police found a 41-year-old male victim unresponsive on the ground with “obvious signs of trauma,” police said. The man died at the scene.

Timothy Willis, Lowndes County deputy coroner, confirmed the man had gunshot wounds. The victim has not yet been identified by police.

Riverdale police officers arrested Washington after responding to a shoplifting call at a Walmart store, the statement said.

“We are thankful for the work of the Riverdale Police Department to help us get this dangerous juvenile off the streets. He can now be held accountable for his callous actions,” said Valdosta Police Chief Leslie Manahan.
