VALDOSTA – Scintilla Charter Academy announces that the 2025-2026 school year enrollment window is now open. Serving grades K-11 next year, Scintilla is committed to providing a deeper learning experience where each child is empowered through creativity, collaboration, inquiry, and critical thinking. Scintilla is also currently accepting applications for enrollment in Spark Academy, a private Pre-K program, ensuring an early foundation for young learners.

Scintilla was named a 2024 Georgia Title I Distinguished School, identifying it as one of the highest-performing Title I schools in Georgia. A Title I Distinguished school is ranked in the top 5% of Title I schools in the state of Georgia based on combined ELA and Math achievement scores on the annual Georgia Milestones Assessments.

“Over the past ten years, our scholars, staff, board members, and families have worked tirelessly to create a thriving, supportive community focused on excellence and innovation. Looking ahead, we remain committed to providing an environment where every child can reach their full potential,” said Superintendent Mandy Brewington.

As an International Baccalaureate (IB) Candidate School for the Middle Years Programme (MYP) for grades 6-10, Scintilla Charter Academy is committed to offering an academically rigorous and globally-minded education. In preparation to expand to eleventh grade next year and twelfth grade the following year, Scintilla has applied for candidacy for the IB Diploma Programme (DP) for grades 11-12. Projected to serve approximately 1,000 scholars next year, the Scintilla emphasizes a joyful learning environment that prepares students for future success, instills a love of learning, and fosters a strong sense of community and character.

Beyond academics, Scintilla offers a wide variety of athletic and extracurricular programs. Students can participate in football, cheer, volleyball, softball, cross country, basketball, golf, tennis, soccer, and track, along with performing arts opportunities in theatre and band. “Our goal is to help students develop their athletic skills and build important leadership qualities that will serve them both on and off the field. Through teamwork, discipline, and perseverance, our student-athletes gain valuable experiences that shape them into strong individuals. We’re proud of how our program is growing and can’t wait to see our athletes continue to excel,” said Justin Henderson, Director of Athletics.

The application period for the 2025-2026 school year is now open, and families interested in enrolling their child must submit an application by January 31 to be entered in the admission lottery. Admission will be determined through a lottery system and spots are limited. Applications submitted after January 31 will automatically be placed on a waiting list.
