TIFTON — In the heart of Pelham, Georgia, a legacy was born in 1915. What began as a modest hardware store has grown into one of the region’s most cherished family businesses—Turner’s Fine Furniture. With over a century of history, the Turner family has built more than a brand; they’ve cultivated a tradition of quality, community, and care.

“Reaching this milestone is a testament to our customers, employees, and communities that have supported us for generations. We are honored to continue our family’s legacy of providing quality furniture and exceptional service.” stated Austin Turner of Leesburg, a fourth generation owner.

The Turner family’s journey took a transformative turn in the 1930s when they pivoted from hardware to furniture, recognizing a need for high-quality, affordable home furnishings, the company said in a press release. This vision propelled Turner’s Fine Furniture to new heights, expanding into multiple locations across South Georgia and North Florida while maintaining its core values of integrity and customer care.

Over the decades, Turner’s has continued to evolve, adapting to changing customer needs while staying true to its roots. The business grew steadily, with expansion into Bainbridge in 1942. By 1961, the third generation of Turners, Moses Wright Turner, had joined the business, blending fresh ideas with timeless values that had become the company’s hallmark. The family’s dedication to quality craftsmanship flourished. By the 1980s, the fourth generation — Fortson and Austin Turner — entered the fold, introducing innovations like the first budget store in Valdosta in 1990, ensuring high-quality furniture was accessible to a broader audience and meeting the diverse needs of their customers.

Today, Turner’s operates multiple locations, including Tallahassee, Thomasville, Tifton, Valdosta, Moultrie, Albany, and Warner Robins.

“Our 110th anniversary is not just about celebrating the past but also looking ahead,” fourth generation owner Fortson Turner of Tifton said. “We are proud to carry on the values that have defined Turner’s Fine Furniture while embracing new opportunities for growth and innovation.”

Recognition for Turner’s Fine Furniture has followed its success. In 2009, the company received Georgia Trend Magazine’s Family-Owned Business of the Year award, a testament to its dedication to both customers and employees. In 2023, it was named one of Furniture Today’s Top 10 Places to Work, highlighting its commitment to a positive workplace culture grounded in family values, as well as being recognized as a Top 100 Furniture Retailer by Furniture Today.

Turner’s Fine Furniture offers customers a curated selection of top-quality brands, including La-Z-Boy, Bassett, Flexsteel, Bernhardt, Hooker, Beautyrest, and Tempur-Pedic. Each showroom is designed to help customers visualize their dream homes, with complete room settings that bring inspiration to life.

To celebrate its 110th anniversary, Turner’s Fine Furniture is offering an anniversary sale. Customers can take advantage of special financing and register in-store for a chance to win $10,000 in free furniture! As a thank you to the communities that have supported them for over a century, Turner’s is also giving back by furnishing a Habitat for Humanity home, helping a family in need create their own cherished memories.

Today, the fifth generation of Turners — Wright Turner and Whit Turner — has started their  journey in the family business, bringing fresh energy and ideas while honoring the traditions that have defined the business.

“Being part of the next generation of Turner’s Fine Furniture is both an honor and a responsibility,” said Whit Turner, of Tallahassee, Florida. “We are excited to continue building on our family’s commitment to providing the best quality and selection for our community.”

As the company celebrates its 110th anniversary in 2025, Turner’s Fine Furniture continues to look forward while cherishing its storied past. Each piece of furniture carries the essence of a century-old commitment to craftsmanship, quality, and service.

“Our customers are the heart of our success. This anniversary is our way of saying thank you, and we look forward to serving our communities for many more years to come,” Wright Turner, of Valdosta, said.
