Nearly 30,000 without power in Lowndes County

VALDOSTA — Thousands of South Georgians are without power Monday afternoon as Tropical Storm Debby continues a northeastern route into the state.

At 12:30 p.m., Georgia Power’s outage map shows more than 60 power outages in nearly all of Valdosta city, affecting more than 6,500 customers. Colquitt EMC reports 22,409 without power in its Valdosta area.

Hahira has multiple outages as well.

Thomas County’s main outages are in the Boston and Ochlocknee areas. Grady EMC’s outage map has 2,000 Thomas County residents without electricity and 847 more in Grady County.

Brooks County has a large outage in the Morven area, Cook County is both Adel and Cecil. Lanier and Berrien counties also has outages because of the storm.

Georgia Power reported no outages in Tift or Colquitt counties, but the situation is much different for Colquitt EMC customers.

Colquitt EMC’s Moultrie area, which serves Colquitt, Brooks and part of Cook, reports 6,559 customers without power.

The Tifton area has 4,108 without power on Colquitt EMC’s map, almost all in Berrien and Cook. Irwin EMC has 555 without power in Berrien County.

Most outages for Irwin EMC are in Irwin, Ben Hill and Turner. Nearly 5,000 lack power in Irwin County; 3,328 in Ben Hill and 2,593 in Turner.
