VALDOSTA — The alleged driver in a deadly one-vehicle crash in January has been charged with vehicular homicide.

Brian Trenard Laster, 41, was arrested March 19, the Valdosta Police Department announced Monday.

On Jan. 5, Laster suffered serious injuries after his vehicle flipped and struck a power pole in the 1500 block of Lullwater Circle. A 27-year-old woman was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Valdosta Police Department Traffic Unit obtained a blood sample from Laster on the morning of the accident, and it was sent to the Georgia Bureau of Investigations Crime Lab for analysis.

On March 11, after receiving the lab results, officers obtained arrest warrants for Laster charging him with:

• Vehicular homicide in the first-degree DUI-felony;

• Driving under the influence of alcohol-misdemeanor; and

• Several misdemeanor traffic offenses.
