Valdosta High golf tops Lowndes High

In Valdosta, Valdosta High’s golfers fired at 304 Monday at Stone Creek to beat Lowndes High, which shot a 313.

Blake DeCesare was low medalist with a 72 to lead the Wildcats. Ben Cowart shot a 75, Bo Parmalee finished with a 78 and Ryan Johnson fired a 79 for Valdosta.

Ryan Parker led Lowndes with a 74, Lance Fendley shot 76, Broc McDowell had an 81 and Patrick Powells finished with an 82.

Valdosta and Lowndes golf play again Wednesday at Francis Lake.



Lowndes’ ninth grade baseball beats Valdosta

In Valdosta, Lowndes High’s ninth graders defeated Valdosta High’s freshmen, 6-2, Monday.

Travis Bragg was the winning pitcher for the Vikings. He also went 2-for-3 with a RBI at the plate. Jarrod Pass went 2-for-3 with a RBI as well for Lowndes.

The Vikings’ ninth graders ended the season 13-4 overall and in first place in the region with a 7-1 record.



Lowndes JV boys’ soccer wins region tourney

In Moultrie, Lowndes junior varsity boys’ soccer won the region tournament Monday by beating Lee County, 3-1.

Alec Orr and Shane McDonald combined to score the first Lowndes goal. Matt Portwood scored the second goal on a header and David Vazquez scored the final goal.

The JV Vikings end the season as Region 1-AAAAA champs at 10-1-1.



Valdosta JV baseball squeezes past Lowndes

In Valdosta, Valdosta High’s junior varsity beat Lowndes’ junior varsity 4-3 Monday.

Daniel Fowler went 2-for-4 to lead the Wildcats. Will Flail, Jim Martin and Fowler all went 1-for-4 at the plate for Valdosta.

Fowler picked up the win, throwing a complete game with eight strikeouts.

Valdosta JV (11-3 overall, 7-1 region) ends its season today at home against Berrien High’s JV at 5 p.m.
