Terrell Velda Hamlin, Jr.

Terrell Velda Hamlin, Jr. (Bubba), a mechanic, age 33 passed away on Sunday, February 19, 2006 at his residence. He was a native of Suwannee County and a lifelong resident of Lafayette County. Mr. Hamlin was a member of the First Assembly of God. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. Preceded in death by grandfather, Howard Hamlin and grandmother, Willie Aldo, Maternal grandmother; Dolly Mae Bonnell.

Survived by his parents: Terrell Hamlin, Sr. and Myrtle Hamlin, of Mayo.

Other survivors include; Maternal grandfather; Nathan Lents, of Mayo, a sister; Tresa Jackson and husband Barry of Mayo, a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. at First Assembly of God on Wednesday, February 22, 2006 with Bro. David Stephens and Bro. Charlie Walker officiating. Interment followed at Alton Church of God. Family received friends on Tuesday evening from 6-8 p.m. at the Mayo Chapel.

Edith Collins Sexton

Edith Collins Sexton, 60, passed away on Saturday, February 4, 2006 in Shands at Alachua General Hospital, Gainesville, following a short illness. Mrs. Sexton was born August 20, 1945 in Richmond, VA, and moved to the Mayo area in 1998 from O’Brien. She was an area newspaper carrier for the Gainesville Sun, and of the Baptist faith.

Survivors include her husband, John Sexton of Mayo, three daughters; Wanda Young and Casey of Branford, Dee Land and Aubrey of Mayo, Debbie Sexton and Mike of Orlando, two sons; Tim and Ed Sexton both of Orlando and 8 grandchildren.

Funeral services were conducted Wednesday, February 15, 2006 at 1 p.m. in Cornerstone Baptist Church, Mayo, with Rev. Kyle Giddens and Rev. Aldo Mesa officiating. Interment followed in Airline Baptist Church Cemetery.

Daniels Funeral Home of Branford was in charge of arrangements.



Albert James Winburn, Jr.

Albert James Winburn, Jr. age 49, passed away on Sunday, February 19, 2006 at Tallahassee Memorial Hospital. He was born in Jacksonville. Coming from Tallahassee he had lived in Climax, GA for the past 5 years. Mr. Winburn was a member of the Midway Baptist Church. He was involved in the politics of Decatur County, Georgia government and a strong supporter of County Commissioner Earl Perry. He was president of student council in Lafayette County, and quarterback, of first undefeated Lafayette football team while in school. He worked as a cabinet builder in Attapulgus, GA, and was an avid outdoorsmen. He loved to play the guitar and piano. Preceded in death by his father, Albert James Winburn, Sr., grandparents; Loree and Charlie Strickland and E. S. and Willow Mae Winburn.

Survivors include his mother; Hilda Jean Winburn, of Monticello, (2) sisters; Alecia Shally and husband Bob, of Tallahassee, and Cathy Winburn-Allen and husband Dan, of Monticello, (3) nephews: Josh Faughn, Dakota and Austin Allen.

Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church on Wednesday, February 22, 2006 with Bro. Bruce Branche, officiating. Interment followed at Pleasant Grove Church Cemetery. Family received friends on Tuesday evening from 7 p.. until 9 p.m. at Burns Mayo Chapel.
