Thanks to Mr. Poling for covering our VSO Youth Concert. It’s a worthwhile endeavor that educates children and teens about music. We had nearly 500 students there, not just dozens. Thank you for bringing attention to this great program.

What is the deal with all of the transportation issues? The City Engineering Department needs to get their act together or let some people go. .

Thanks to the Valdosta City Police Officers and to Lowndes County Sheriff’s Office for going out of their way to ensure children were safe on Halloween. We all appreciate their efforts.

I don’t understand why students prefer the prison-looking, saggy, pants that almost fall off of them when they walk. This isn’t attractive and isn’t what I’d call “dressed for success.” And we wonder why our test scores are so low and education ranks right up there with Mississippi. My solution is to buy pants that fit or purchase a belt folks.

Uniforms are easier for parents and students. It eliminates the guess factor about what to wear. However, it won’t be equal. Some students will spend $125 for Air Jordan’s while others are lucky to have shoes on their feet. Yet, that is how life is.

Parents of Lowndes County schools need to show up at the forum on Thursday, 6 p.m. at LHS to help express their opinions about the dress code. They want all students to wear blue, black, or khaki pants and a solid polo shirt every day. Why can’t kids be kids and wear jeans?

Thank you to Moody for their haunted house this year. My family had a great time. There were ghouls and goblins at every corner. One of the best I’ve ever been in. Thank you to all the volunteers, you did a wonderful job. Also, thank you for serving our country.

Thank you so much to Morningside Baptist Church for a great fall festival. I love taking my kids to these type of functions to be safe and be treated like a blessing from God. Thank you also for the free food. We really enjoyed the morning.

As for the writer that states there are scientific studies that state school uniforms result in students learning more, let me educate you. One can find research to support any claim whatsoever — just depends on how you spin it. The majority of the kids don’t need uniforms in order to dress appropriately. Those that don’t dress according to code can have a ‘replacement wardrobe’ (like the ‘replacement meals’ they have in the lunchroom for those that aren’t on free lunch but get behind on their tabs from time to time. Maybe a big yellow cover-all outfit. Don’t punish the kids following the rules — tend to the ones that don’t.

I would like to remind everybody that Nov. 10 is the birthday of my beloved Marine Corps., Yooo yaah!

I would like to congratulate the nursing staff on post-partum on second floor for a great job well done for taking care of their patients. High five, thank you very much.
