The lamp post in Wright Turner’s front yard was demolished shortly after Christmas during a night of destruction by vandals. The Valdosta Police Department received 27 reports of vandalism from residents of the Eager Road subdivision the night of Dec. 26 and early the next morning. Homeowners are offering a reward in the case.

A reward is being offered for information that leads to the arrest of individuals responsible for a night of vandalism in a residential neighborhood.

Just before midnight on Thursday, Dec. 26, the Valdosta Police Department began receiving numerous phone calls from the Eager Road subdivision area with reports of vandalism and destruction of private property.

Resident Wright Turner said the vandals caused approximately $2,000 worth of damage to his property, including a lamp post in his front yard that was demolished. Turner said his neighbors suffered similar fates with destroyed mailboxes and at least one smashed car window.

By the next morning, VPD had received 27 reports of vandalism, according to police reports. Residents on Pebblewood Drive alone reported nine instances.

The incidents are under investigation, but no suspects have yet been identified, according to Lt. Aaron Kirk Thursday.

A group of homeowners from the neighborhood have banded together to offer a $1,000 reward for information that leads to the conviction of the individuals responsible for the attack, and they believe four teenagers with a stolen golf cart caused all the destruction.

The homeowners are asking anyone with information to call (229) 244-3822 or (229) 300-0614.
