NASHVILLE — Berrien tennis just keeps going and going, year after year.
The Rebelettes are back in the Elite Eight after defeating Swainsboro Monday in Nashville, 5-0. It’s the 11th Elite Eight in the past 12 years for head coach Jarrett Luke, and 12 in the last 14.
Now, they wait. Berrien will soon learn its destiny for the next round, whether it will be on the road at Fannin County or at home against Rabun County.
Luke admits he’s cheering for Rabun.
Google estimates a nearly five-hour drive without stopping between Nashville and Blue Ridge, which where Fannin is located.
Like in their first round against Chattooga, Berrien jumped out fast.
Kayla Wiley made it 1-0 on perfect scores of 6-0, 6-0, before the doubles team of Alli Butler and Sarah Nugent came through with a 6-0, 6-1 win.
Berrien then clinched with Callie Nix and Emery Lane in the other doubles, 6-2, 6-2.
They finished out the day with a win by Joci Holbrook (6-1, 6-3) and another from Emmi Warren (6-2, 2-6, 10-8).
Berrien is now 16-6 on the season, and has won over 14 of its last 16 opponents.
