Valdosta State’s Evan Hanna named All-America Scholar

VALDOSTA — Valdosta State golfer Evan Hanna has been named a Cleveland Golf/Srixon All-America Scholar by the Golf Coaches Association of America, according to an announcement by the organization on Wednesday.

Hanna completed the 2010-11 season with a 3.25 grade point average while finishing second on the Blazer squad with a 75.0 strokes per round average.
The senior, who will graduate in December with a degree in marketing, tallied six top 20 finishes in VSU’s 11 tournaments on the season and had his scored count a team-best 27 times in the 30 rounds that he played.
To earn All-America Scholar credentials from the GCAA, an honoree must record a 3.25 grade point average and hold a stroke average under 78.0 per round.
Amanda Smith named ticket manager
VALDOSTA — The Valdosta State Athletic Department has named Amanda Smith director of ticketing and game operations, according to an announcement by VSU athletic director Herb Reinhard Wednesday.
Smith takes over the ticket office operations after spending two and a half years in the VSU athletic department. She began her tenure with Blazer athletics as a student assistant during the fall of 2008, a position that saw her assist with the accounting and other administrative duties of the department.

Upon graduating with a Bachelor’s of Business of Administration with a concentration in accounting in December of 2010, Smith assumed a role of graduate assistant with the Athletic Department, serving as an assistant in the ticket office.
“I’ve been very impressed with the work that Amanda has performed for us during her time in our office,” said Reinhard. “She is a very talented young professional who has a bright future in front of her. We are pleased to add Amanda to our staff.”
Prior to Valdosta State, Smith worked in the Public Defender’s Office as an administrative assistant. She is currently pursuing a Master’s in Accounting from Valdosta State, a degree she is scheduled to obtain in the Spring of 2012.
