Let us vote

“I believe the people of the great state of Georgia should be allowed to vote on whatever flag they want. Sonny Perdue told everyone that if elected he would allow a vote on the flag and once elected he changed the game plan. I would like to see the flag with the Cross of St. Andrews back as our state flag.”

Running from issue

“Why not punish the ones who misrepresented the Confederate flag way back in 1956? It is a disgrace for the people who fought for this flag to have it dishonored now. Perdue knew which flag we were talking about and the one we want to vote on and not the other two. They chickened out on the issue, and The Valdosta Daily Times shouldn’t be in the picture.”

Give up Perdue

“As a Republican who voted for Sonny Perdue, I wish we could give him back to the Democrats because he lied to us about the flag.”

Berrien’s the best

“I am so proud of Berrien Primary School in Nashville. It has been listed as a Title 1 distinguished school for five consecutive years. Thank you, teachers and students, you are the very best.”

Settle the issue

“Causing more aggravation on the state flag issue is just your opinion. It is pretty clear what the voters want. If the voters did not want a vote on the 1956 state flag, then why are you making such comments as to letting the issue go? Why are you and some of the politicians so scared to face the issue? We will get onto other pressing issues when this one is settled!”

No reason to fear

“I can’t believe that no one can understand that it’s not about the flag. It’s about whether our state will be another whipping boy for the politically correct and special interest groups. Why is everyone so scared of a fair vote? What’s the harm in putting the 1956 flag on the ballot?”

Support the ban

“A friend of mine that has been smoking for many years just decided to quit after finding out that there are many medical problems popping up in his life. He stated that the proposed ban on smoking helped him make this decision as well as the proposed state wide ban on smoking in public buildings. I had asthma for 22 years and know what it is like to starve for air. Support the smoking ban and celebrate the habit-free sensation of fresh air and taste of good food.”

Let go of the flag

“The majority of voters seem to be tired of fooling around with the old state flag and they are right. Crowds of diehards dressed in Confederate gray hollering up in Atlanta and that foolish sign being flown around from an airplane just makes the state look backward. Let it go. For the life of everything you think is holy, just let it go.”

We will lose again

“The French lost the war in Vietnam. We went in there and lost, too. The Russians invaded Afghanistan and lost. What do we do? We invade and lose. Iraq is no different. We will lose again, because we refuse to face the facts that sending troops to invade other countries is an outmoded way to force our beliefs upon other cultures.”
