Rant & Rave for Tuesday, March 4, 2008

While checking into the Lanier/Lowndes County line being moved, how about checking into the Lakeland City limits being moved on the Teeterville Highway? It’s just far enough out that the city police car can ‘hide’ over the small hill and make numerous stops. Traffic needs to be controlled, but this is a speed trap and a big source of revenue for the city. Fair? I don’t think so.
This season of “American Idol” rocks. This crop isn’t taking Simon’s criticism without offering some of their own. That is a good thing.
Valdosta has a lot of trees. I don’t know what the big deal is.
Jaywalking on Patterson Street is wrong. People who do this should be given a ticket.
Women are better at taking care of children than men. Generally speaking, men make more money than women. Thus, it makes sense for women to stay home and care for the house, the family, and the children. It is the best plan.
Taxes are too high. It is absurd. I’m tired of giving my hard-earned money to all these lame, absurd, overspent, government programs. Instead of putting a Band-aid on the problem, we ought to fix the glitch.
Pulling out in front of someone is nothing to be taken lightly. Learn how to drive properly or get off the road.
Technology Night at Parker Mathis Elementary School was a great success. Our family enjoyed the presentation given by teachers and their students. Many thanks to principal Creacy Sermons for allowing us to see how our children accelerate through the learning and the use of computers.
The rant about medical offices not protecting our privacy is so correct. There have been very few offices I have been in that don’t ask personal questions, whether health related or addresses, etc., so that anyone can hear. Most employees seem very unprofessional in that area.
The Valdosta Parks and Recreation has great baseball, too. My children have been playing there for 14 years and they all love it. Vallotton Park is a very nice facility and more people should participate and let the kids get involved and have fun.
Taking a child with a fever to the emergency room is ridiculous. Unless that fever began right after the child’s doctor’s office closed on Friday, and continued for two days after you gave them children’s Advil, you had no business clogging the ER. People like you are the ones that cause the lengthy delays.
I am a married working, parent mother of one child. My family certainly takes priority over my career, but try telling my sociable child she is less loved because she is in daycare. When we stay home for more than a day or two, she is begging to go back to school to see her friends. Every situation is different, so please be more aware before you judge others.
Kingston sounded good when he said we would probably have a new contractor for base housing by the end of February, I wonder what year that was? My banker would like to know.
