Blazers headed to 11th straight NCAA Regional

For the 11th consecutive season, the Valdosta State softball program has earned the right to compete in the NCAA Division II South Regional, with this year’s tournament taking place in Pensacola, Fla.

The Blazers will enter the field of 64 in the South 1 Region bracket as the No. 5-seeded team. Valdosta State’s first matchup in the double-elimination tournament will be against the recently crowned Gulf South Conference Champion Mississippi College Choctaws, who will represent the No. 4 seed. Valdosta State enters the tournament with a 37-17 overall record, while MC will come in sporting a record of 34-18.

Joining the fray and serving as the tournament hosts with a 40-13 record on the season, are the No. 1 seeded West Florida Argonauts. The Argonauts will face Claflin, who enter as the No. 8 seed out of the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC).

Valdosta State’s opening contest is slated for 5 p.m. Thursday. A video live stream of all games will be provided by West Florida, and audio coverage of all Valdosta State games will come courtesy of WDDQ Talk 92.1 FM.
